Luly Collection of (mostly) Melbourne photographs

The online Luly collection comprises 325 colour photographic images taken mostly in Melbourne, Australia, from the 1950s until the 1970s. Much of the collection consists of photos of houses in suburban Melbourne, photos of modern suburban churches and a rather eclectic range of other historical images (factories, parks, freeways, airports, public buildings). Highlights include photos of many of the city’s Victorian masterpieces including the now demolished Federal Hotel in Spencer Street.[slideshow]

Really interesting. I think these buildings, sites and precincts are becoming increasingly important and of more obvious heritage and historical significance. But as the Spencer attests they are, and have been been, neglected for some time in terms of conservation and broader public appreciation.
